Where to Stay
in Monaco

Monaco has very few hotels and they sell out for F1 well in advance. Here is the honest guide to where to stay — including when staying in Monaco is actually the wrong choice.

Monaco's Best Hotels

Monaco has fewer than 15 hotels for the entire principality. These are the three worth knowing.

Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo Monaco
★★★★★

Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo

Casino Square

From €800 / night (€3,000+ F1 weekend)

The undisputed benchmark. Built in 1863 and directly on Casino Square, it houses the three Michelin-star Louis XV restaurant, the legendary Bar Américain, and the finest rooms with direct views of the Grand Prix circuit.

F1 Note: Rooms overlooking the circuit — some of the most sought-after views on the entire F1 calendar.

Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo Monaco
★★★★★

Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo

Square Beaumarchais

From €600 / night (€2,500+ F1 weekend)

Belle Époque luxury in a quieter setting than the Paris. A crystal-vaulted winter garden, rooftop pool, and terrace restaurant. Preferred by guests who want Monaco's finest without Casino Square's constant activity.

F1 Note: Connected to the Thermes Marins spa — useful for recovering between race days.

Fairmont Monte Carlo Monaco
★★★★★

Fairmont Monte Carlo

Hairpin Corner — On the Circuit

From €500 / night (€2,000+ F1 weekend)

The F1 fan's hotel. Built directly into the famous Fairmont Hairpin with terraces that literally hang over the track. During race weekend the hotel hosts its own grandstand. The location is unrivalled for motorsport.

F1 Note: The only hotel in Monaco where you can watch qualifying from your window.

Base Yourself Outside Monaco

For most visitors — especially for F1 weekend — staying outside Monaco and commuting in is not a compromise. It is the better choice.

Nice base Monaco

Nice

20 min by train · €4

The best base for F1 weekend. Nice has its own excellent nightlife, beaches, and restaurants — and a direct train to Monaco every 20 minutes. Hotel prices are 60–70% lower than Monaco itself.

Stay near Nice Ville station for the fastest access. Book early — Nice also fills up for Grand Prix weekend.

Menton base Monaco

Menton

12 min by train · €3

The quieter, prettier choice. Menton sits just east of Monaco on the Italian border — a pastel-coloured coastal town with far fewer tourists than Nice and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere.

Menton is significantly less crowded than Nice during F1 weekend. A genuine hidden gem as a base.

Cannes base Monaco

Cannes

55 min by train · €8

Further afield but with its own distinct character. The Croisette, the Film Festival beach clubs, and a nightlife scene that rivals Monaco. Better for a broader Riviera trip where Monaco is one stop of several.

Takes longer to get to and from the circuit — manageable for race day, less practical for qualifying.
